What an original fantasy! This genre has suffered a lack of originality for several years (IMO), where nearly every novel you pick up is simply a re-chewed version of the last one you read. The Name of the Wind delivers a new realm with memorable characters, some human, some not, mystery, action, comedy, magic, romance, and heart-wrenching drama.

The flow of the story is well paced, and told in a series of flashbacks by the main character, Kvothe. This unusual narration style was genius! All of ...more
