I haven't been this impressed by an author's imagination and world building since reading my first Harry Potter. Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor is a Young Adult fantasy novel and not what I typically read. However, when I read that the main character Lazlo Strange, a war orphan with an active imagination comes to work in a great library after being raised in a monastery by monks, I was keen to pick this up.

You know all those reviewers that say to go into Strange the Dreamer with as little knowledge about it as possible? Well, I’m one of those reviewers.

I’d initially dismissed Strange the Dreamer as something I wouldn’t be interested in – the blurb and reviews were too vague to catch my attention, and I hadn’t read anything by Laini Taylor so she wasn’t on my ‘instant read’ list. I listened to the audiobook of this novel. It was a brilliantly written fantasy novel about two different worlds separated after an epic slater. One world has humans and another has god sporn. The narrator from this book was perfect.

I have been looking forward to reading this book for a while and I was NOT disappointed. Taylors writing is so lyrical and descriptive. If you want a fantasy that is a quicker read, I would recommend it
