Hovering somewhere between 3 and 3.5 stars. This was, certainly, a remarkable and page-turning story. Unfortunately, there was just something about the author and her voice that didn't quite resonate with me. I can't possibly imagine what it would be like to learn a secret as shocking as Shapiro did, but I had a hard time relating to her privilege, her trauma surrounding the situation, and her attitudes toward biological determinism.
