I have to admit that while I love SciFi in movies and shows, I just can never get into it in books. This was no exception. It was just too wordy, too purposefully obtuse, with too many made-up words for my reading enjoyment. I pushed through the whole thing hoping it would get better, but for me, it never did. I really disliked it. Which is a bummer since the idea was an interesting one. Just the direction and focus of the book was too stiff and clinical for me. I just dreaded getting through it ...more

This book isnt for everyone. If you loved The Long Way to a Small, Angry, Planet, you might like this too.

This book started slow for me. I didn't get what it was supposed to be about. Reading it in little snippets here and there probably contributed to that. I finally sat down and gave it a good solid go, and it started to grow on me. By the time I got to the end I was sad it was over because I had finally fallen under the spell that Le Guin's writing usually puts me under.
