I just finished this, and my heart is full. The heart of this book is the characters and their connection. I was drawn in from the start, feeling invested in these characters and their story. Like others have said, it gives Firefly vibes in a wonderful way.

Stayed up late to finish this book. Lots of world building. Setting up a great arena for multiple story arcs. Looking forward to being in this 'verse for many more books! ...more

I loved this book. The characters were all lovably sympathetic or dastardly evil or frustratingly human (even if a species other than Homo sapiens). Looking forward to the second.

I kept waiting for there to be some amazing space adventure to this book. Granted, there are smaller adventurous parts, but this was really more about the journey and the characters. I guess I should've been clued into this from the title. But it was still decent reading. I enjoyed getting to know the crew, (except maybe Kizzy, she bugged me) and seeing their relationships grow and change over time. A fun way to spend a day. ...more
