4.5 stars and the audio is a 5. An extremely enjoyable experience with a surprise at the end. We know a surprise is coming but this was not at all what I predicted. Nothing about this book was expected or predictable.

Pleasantly surprised by this little gem! There was a lot more depth to the story than I was expecting as it seemed to me that it might be more predictable. It was definitely a page-turner, but with more substance than a simple beach read. Evelyn Hugo is portrayed as a woman who knows what she wants (stardom and fame) and will do anything to get it which includes marrying the wrong men if she thought it would help her public image. This is one of those books that I'm not sure how it ended up on my TBR, but once it was on my radar, it appeared on a number of "must read" lists for 2017.

I loved this book. What an amazing author. She really brought the characters to life. I had to keep reminding myself this was a work of fiction and I couldn't google these people to find out more about their lives or movies. It took me three days to finish because I had to know what happened next in the tumultuous life of Evelyn Hugo.

When I read that several Goodreads readers stayed up all night to finish this book, I ordered it from the Library, and it came right away (should have been a sign). I could NOT wait to put this book down for good! I am being generous in giving it 2 stars only because the conclusion was unpredictable to me. This horridly manipulative woman reeked havoc on sooooo many people in the name of love????? Cannot recommend, and I will not be reading any other Taylor Reid books!
My first book by Taylor Jenkins Reid. Definitely will not be my last. From the first page this book had me hooked. I couldn't stop thinking about Evelyn and her life. A perfect escape and fabulous vaction read for the summer. Yes it was a fun, fast juicy read but there was another layer that went deep into what life was like for old Hollywood. I loved it.

wow.. I loved this book. having read daisy Jones and ow this..I feel like I must get my hands on everything written by this gifted storyteller.
Evelyn is a bisexual icon and i love her.
