An entertaining and fast paced crime novel but you need to seriously suspend disbelief when reading this one.

4 jury complication stars
This is the book that started it all -- I received a complimentary copy of this one from the publisher and didn't realize it was #4 in the series. My book besties have been reading the series together, about once/month and we've made it to this one. I feel so good to read a book on my real bookshelf! (That's usually the kiss of death for my books)

Is the defense attorney a handsome con man turned lawyer with just as much or more cunning as the killer? Yes, yes, and yes, plus many delicious twists and turns. This sounded right up my alley, which is why I waited a very long time in the OverDrive queue to get my hands on the audiobook. With an original premise, this delves into the minds of both the indestructible ...more

Maybe I've been spoiled by what I've been reading, but this is doing nothing for me. I really liked the premise - killer on the jury - but the character who can't feel pain and seems to enjoy torturing people is someone I'm not in the mood to spend time with. So, I quit, at least for now. There are too many other books I'm looking forward to!
No rating, since I've read only a quarter of it. ...more

I liked reading the two alternating perspectives - that of lawyer Eddie Flynn and that of serial killer Joshua Kane - and seeing how Kane orchestrated everything about the murders, his placement on the jury and, eventually, the conviction. I also thought that, in his pursuit of being on the jury, Kane truly established his nature as a serial killer s
