Southern charm, magic, family secrets and a remarkable tree.

In this southern town in Alabama, there is a tree that has its own story. Folklore if you will. If you ask the tree a question and the tree cares to answer, a button with advice on it is dispensed. It appears at the base of the tree in a hollow called the rabbit hole. This also happens to the name of the local bookstore.

Many lives will change the day Blue finds a three day old baby at the base of the tree instead of a button. Many women

LOved the magical realism aspect of this book. The buttonwood tree with its advice dispensing buttons was an original concept that was well executed. The story was well-plotted and moved along nicely. The one small comment I have is that there was too much similarity in the character voices and at times I had to look back to check and see whose voice she was in.

Sometimes a book just grabs hold of you and you can’t really explain why. That was case with this book. The two main characters, through whom the story is told, are Blue Bishop and Sarah Grace Landreneau Fulton.
Guided by the wind, Blue Bishop has a knack for finding things. She has grown up in the small town of Buttonwood, Alabama. Often it is wallets, jewellery and sometimes her wandering neighbour Moe who is suffering from dementia. But this time what Blue finds is a new born baby.

This was a sweet story...I can see why it has resonated with a lot of Goodreads readers. I liked the characters in this one. They were strong southern women with something to say.

I liked the magical realism elements. It provided some needed "mystery". I also liked that they were on a journey to find truth and happiness BUT at times they all seemed to be on the exact same rollercoaster....all the time. That part was a bit of a one note. It was all the sa

I loved this book and this author! I hate I kept getting pulled away from reading this book for so long but so glad I finally finished it. I love magical realism and southern fiction.

Another good read from Heather Webber. A southern tale of family, love, and a little magical realism.

I loved The Blackbird Cafe. This book was okay but seemed like an echo of the other.

This was my first book by this author. I loved it. I loved the magic of the Buttonwood Tree. I actually googled the tree to see what they looked like. Taking place in Alabama this is a great book about families and forgiveness with a little help from the Buttonwood tree.
