An author dies under suspicious circumstances while a hurricane rages on Camino Island. Both the author's sister and his circle of friends are working on solving his death. Once his latest unpublished book comes to light they realize that he was researching a drug that prolongs life and that may be the very reason he is dead.

The fictional Camino Island is off the Florida coast and in real life is Amelia Island, where John Grisham and his wife have a vacation home. He fictionalized it to keep his vacation home private, but the cat's out of the bag. Also fictionalized was Hurricane Leo that takes place in this book. The hurricane in the story killed an author on the island, a friend of the local indie bookstore owner Bruce Cable. Bruce is the main thread in this series. Not only did I get to read the first two books in the series but I got to share my reading journey and discuss the books with some amazing bookstagrammers!

This was fairly enjoyable but unevenly paced and with lots of loose ends. Not Grisham’s best, by far.
