A magicians trick goes awry hurting a woman and summoning an elephant. This is the elephant that Peter was expecting. He had been told by a fortune teller that an elephant would lead him to his, once believed dead, little sister Adele. The woman who was hurt finally forgives the magician, the magician sends the elephant back home and Peter finds his sister.
Cute YA story detailing hope and belief.

I love Kate DiCamillo and will read anything she writes.

I enjoyed this book very much. I don't normally read children's books but it was part of my book club reads so I was slightly apprehensive but I was pleasantly surprised. I love the author's style of writing; it really kept me engaged and wanting to read more. And I loved how she explored each character so I felt connected to each of them...even if they only played small parts and even if she only spoke of them briefly.
