Didn't really like the ending, it felt like it kinda fizzled out. ...more

The particular sadness of reading a whole book waiting for something to happen, when nothing at all happens. Most of the book reads like a dull YA novel with some faux magical realism hocus pocus thrown in. The entire book is dulled by the flat affect of the main character. None of the characters seemed remotely realistic or even lively to me.

I feel like I am being so negative in my last reviews, but this was not to my liking. I am not a Pollyanna, but I did not like any of the characters (all WEAKNESS personified) in this book AND everything about the plot was vague and wishy washy! I had read conflicting reviews of it, and I wish I had followed my instinct and NOT even bothered reading it!

I am sorry but this is the first time I gave up on a novel.
I liked the synopsis of the book. But it was not holding my interest it was too strange. I have heard I am not the only one that did not enjoy the book. As they say different strokes for different _______.
Hopefully the next book I pick will be better.

This book felt very tender and magical. I enjoyed the characters and the whole family life, seeming so real, all disconnected from each other, but close and loving in spite of it.

This book was incredibly engaging and I read it very quickly. I kept wanting to know what the heck was going on, but I think I just didn't GET it. It was kind of strange for me, and although I get the big picture of the story, I feel like I must have missed something in the details. ...more

I loved the beginning of this book...couldn;t read it fast enough. The characters are liekable,,,if a bit intangible. I did not however love the ending...felt it was a bit off but that may have been the point.

I'd give this a 2 1/2 stars if I could. It was soooo depressing and a bit boring till finally the last three chapters were decent. ...more
