In the hands of a stellar writer, this book would have earned five stars. The premise is compelling...the legal adoption of a kidnapped child...it examines the definition of motherhood, the love mothers have for their children, and the horrors of losing a child. Glad I read it, fast paced, short chapters, but so dramatic! And I loathe when an author throws in a romance unnecessarily. I felt myself rolling my eyes when in the midst of all that is happening in this woman's life, of course she's pining for a boy.

If you are taking a trip this summer, this is a very good audiobook to take along. 9 hours of suspense that is about an adoptive parent's biggest nightmare. I found it structured perfectly building up to a very interesting and unpredictable conclusion.

I haven't read Scottoline before, but chose this book because of the subject matter--a moral dilemma. Ellen, mom of an adopted son, sees a flier for a kidnapped boy who looks identical to her son. Does she investigate or leave well enough alone? This storyline grabbed my attention and the short chapters kept it going. The ending was a little too perfect, but overall I enjoyed this book and read it in just a few days.

This was a page-turner. It had a few twists along the way the I wasn't expecting which kept it interesting until the end. As a mother, it really made me think of what I would feel like if this happended to me. It gave me a few tears along the way, but ended well.

Totally predictable and a bit unreasonable, but I couldn't put it down.
