“HANNAH – Sunday, August 25, 2019
Because of the diary, Hannah knew exactly what had happened to Laura, and she knew exactly who was to blame.

LAURA DIARY ENTRY #1 Saturday, July 9, 1994, 9:00 p.m.
Writing in a diary is a habit you’re supposed to grow out of. Starting one now, at nineteen . . . I’m like the girl who brings her My Little Pony collection to her college dorm.”

We’re not in Ireland anymore! McTiernan has written an American mystery about a young woman who found diaries written

3.5 Hannah needed to do three things. She needed to get hired by the Innocence project, then assigned to a particular case and next to derail a verdict. The reasons why lie in her mother's diary, entries which are shown between chapters. But....well there's always a but and let's just say there are often detours to the truth.

I !over this authors Cormac series, set in Ireland. This one is set in Virginia, a little disappointing, but knowing how well this author can put together a story, made this

4 innocent stars -- now available!

My first read from this author and it’s a good one! I loved the premise, a young law student starts volunteering at the Innocence Project at University of Virginia, for very personal reasons.

Hannah has a connection to one of the cases the group is working on, and she strategically figures out a way to join the defense team. None of them know that she is sabotaging their efforts due to a past crime that horribly impacted her mother, Laura.

As the team investigates

I received this from a Goodreads giveaway in exchange for an honest review.

Unknown to all is that Hannah has ulterior motives for becoming part of the team. She's clever, smart and willing to bend the rules to achieve her ultimate goal. Why is Hannah seeking to sabotage a case they have been working on for months? The answer lies in the diary entries of her mo

I really enjoyed this one. It had all the elements - romance, murder, lies, a trial, unwed pregnancy, blackmail, a mother/daughter relationship, unexpected surprises. Sounds like too much? But McTiernan ran it all together in a way that made you want to keep reading.

I had both the book and the audio. I thought the audio was very well done. Not a brilliant book - just very well put together and an enjoyable read.

Wow! Once I saw what Hannah was up to, I couldn't put this down and finished in a day. Hannah was very clever. McTiernan is extremely so. ...more

The Murder Rule is Dervla McTiernan’s fourth book, and it is a stand-alone - not a follow-on from her previous Cormac Reilly series.

I really enjoyed this! It had several twists and turns in the story, with characters having good and bad sides which came into play at various times. The story is told from Hannah’s point of view, a young law student, and a journal from 25 years prior. From the outset, it is known that Hannah is not what she is trying to appear. The plotline was a clever idea, altho

I was so excited when I got this in my hands. I loved The Ruins and The Scholar, but this novel was a giant step backwards for the author. Hannah and her fellow team members acted more like gang from Scooby Doo than serious law students, and the final court room scene destroyed whatever plausiblity remained.
The author's previous novels were much better paced, and the characters were thoroughly developed. This time the plot was ridiculous and the characters were one dimensional, almost caricature
