This book is tongue in cheek - nothing to take seriously, but very funny if you read it correctly. This book gives you the 7 different kinds of people you find in a bookshop, then a follow chapter up for the "Operarii" or the staff. Each kind of person of course has various 'types' that Bythell also breaks down to describe. I am sure you can change the word 'bookshop' to any other establishment and still be safe in his definitions.

Recommended by a fellow Goodreads reader, I thoroughly enjoyed this description of we bibliophiles who frequent book shops in this case, antiquarian bookshops! Laughed out loud as the truth of the Authors descriptions! Highly recommend to fellow Goodreaders!

Although there was an (very) occasional humorous observation or line, for the most part this book was condescending, judgmental and often insulting. Unless you are looking for a very quick read to help meet a reading goal I would suggest skipping.
