I knew I'd enjoy this even before I knew what it was about, just because Pat Conroy wrote it. And in the audiobook, he read it as well. He said that in his adult life he tried to read 200 pages a day, certainly more than he wrote each day. And here he shared some of his favorites and what he liked about them. It all started with his mother reading Gone With the Wind to him every summer. She wanted him to become a writer, and Conroy attests that before you can write, you must read, voraciously. H

LOVED this book about authors, literature, and the important people in his reading life who influenced his writing development. It is a wonderful walk through good literature that we have all read at some time in our lives. For example, "My mother hungered for art, for illumination, for some path to lead her to a shining way to call her own. She lit signal fires in the hills for her son to feel and follow. Interesting view of Conroy's view of his own life and the influences that formed him as a writer.
It is always a pleasure to read the magnificent use of words from this author. Like other writers
