I really, really enjoyed this novel. This is the first book I have read about pixies, so it was nice to learn some new mythology and read more about weres.

I immediately got sucked into the story, as Carrie Jones' writing is straight to the point and paces the story perfectly. The plot is fast paced and not once did I get bored while immersed in Zara White's world.

I've read a bit about vampires, weres, and faries before and this book introduces you to pixies. Pixies are not Tinker Bells. Zara moves to Maine to live with her step-grandmother. In this family even if they are step the love is like it's biological. I really liked that, but like most teen books, Gram, the adult supervision, really wasn't around much. I'm not sure on this one. I liked the idea behind the book, and I liked the twist on Pixies. Who knew they weren't the sweet, nice little fluttery things I think of. The creepy feeling was definitely there. I loved how every chapter opened with a phobia. I liked Issie and Devyn. They were great secondary characters that added just the right touch to the story. I wasn't sure what was up with Nick and Ian at first, although I felt it was their animosity was revealed in the end. Zoey was ok. She di ...more

I don't know if it was the amazing reader on the audiobook or that this was actually a really good story for a YA novel. I like how strong the female characters are in this story. Lately, I've been reading a lot of YA books where the authority figures (parents) are automatically either the enemy or clueless. This story was different. This book was different and I appreciated not having to hear/read chapters worth of teenage angst about how awful the main character's parents are. The main charact ...more
