The Wager: A Tale of Shipwreck, Mutiny and Murder was such an interesting and well researched account of shipwreck, survival, and savagery.
This is my third book by this author, and I find his attention to detail is excellent.

This is the account of a famous 1740 shipwreck that left most of the crew dead and made celebrities of the men who survived numerous days on a frigid deserted coast and even more battered by an unforgiving ocean. Grann does a wonderful job of turning logs and diaries, court records and popular accounts into an easy-to-follow narrative. 3.5 stars

I had a hard time putting down this book. One of those that captured me in the beginning and I really wanted to see what would happen. Also interesting is that we get to meet poet Lord Byron's grandfather, Captain John "Jack" Byron. This book did as much as possible to transport me to a British warship in 1742.
How did this book find me? I saw it at either Sam's Club or Costco and the cover grabbed me. Right before starting it I realized it was by the author of Killers of the Flower Moon.
