This book sounds like a soap opera but it isnt!! It s a regular story of a family of Irish Catholic Americans who have a beach house in Maine. 2 1/2 stars - sometimes this book was a 2 for me and sometimes it was a 3. The characters in this book are so awful, self centered and mean that it is very difficult to enjoy reading it. I like the setting because it was a good description of that area in Maine and really evoked how it feels to be in that area of Maine.

Nice to read a story with characters with very real emotions and actions in a less than perfect family! It all comes together but not all unrealistically - very real life. Better than her first book Commencement.

Reasonably good....kind of sterotypical Irish Catholic treatment of religion in family life, but appealing enough

Starts slow, but interesting characters. The ultimate dysfunctional family.
