I really liked this book. It was fast-moving and the characters were well-developed and likable. If you're looking for a light, fantastical story that's imaginative and provides a nice escape, this is it. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series. ...more

I am learning about my trigger warnings. Violence to children. Violence to animals. Violence to women. Really evil people. I did not finish this, stopped a little over halfway through, but did read the epilogue.

3.5/5 stars.

There’s so much great stuff in this book but I felt like some of the pacing and dialogue was stunted/strange. I felt like some characters weren’t fleshed out as much as they could’ve been. I think I just wanted more at certain parts and less at others. Still a good read, and I’ll pick up the next two books at some point.
