Can't believe I spent the entire day reading, but I really could not put this down! Just when I thought I'd reached the surprise ending, WHAM! There's another surprise. The first surprise I figured out but never saw the next one coming.
Great, great book and I'll definitely add this author to my list of favorites. At some times it felt like a Harlan Coben, then a John Hart, and even a little Grisham-ish.

I loved this book, though it really did not go anywhere near how I expected it to.
Jacob, a 14-year-old boy, is charged with murder of his classmate, Ben. Jacob's parents, Andy (a defense attorney) and Laurie, view things very differently. My favorite type of book - keeps you guessing right up until the end! Looking forward to your next book, William Landay! Psychological thriller that would be any parents' nightmare.

A very creepy book with a very creepy suspect. The main character is an assistant DA whose son has been accused of murdering a bullying classmate. Over the course of the novel, Jacob's parents begin wondering if they have created a monster. I didn't anticipate how the book was going to end, although looking back over the plotline I shouldn't have been surprised. All in all, a very unsettling book that raises interesting and provocative questions about the nature and origin of violence.
