What a great writer Gillian Flynn is. To craft such a story, quite unusual, shifting narrator between husband and wife, and constantly leaving the reader asking what's going on... Wow. I read her two first books and was a fan already, good to see this book is lifting this author up to top ranks finally. The end was the only thing I was a bit disappointed about. Otherwise, recommend this to everyone. There is not much to be said about the story because it would soon spoil. Great, great book.

“I suppose these questions storm cloud over every marriage: What are you thinking? How are you feeling? Who are you? What have we done to each other? What will we do?

Nick, thinking to himself when he wakes in the so-called ‘new house’ he and wife Amy have lived in for the last two years along the banks of the Mississippi River in his boyhood hometown. She’s an East Coast trust fund baby, not a cornfed Midwesterner. She had a job writing quizzes for magazines while he was a journalist. They

This book will blow your mind. Just when you think you might know what's going on, because you are certain you have figured parts of this out, it all changes. Great psychological suspense! It's difficult to write a review of this book without spoilers. It's a dark, sick portrait of a mariage. The author does an amazing job with the two distinct characters' voices and unraveling how their story came to be. And you have to wonder how an author can come up with this. Brilliant.

This was SO good. I loved the way the story was told, with varying vantage point and varying timeline. It kept me guessing and was a real roller coaster ride.

Fantastic premise, well-drawn characters (who lie, lie, lie--to each other, to other characters, to themselves, to us), and a page-turning plot are big reasons why Gone Girl is the best summer read I've experienced in years. And it is a classic "summer" read--it's noir elements and twisting plot made for fun, fun reading. Part of the reason I liked the novel so well is that it kept me on my toes; just when I thought I had "figured out" what was happening, author Gillian Flynn adds an unforesee ...more

Library book group pick for Feb. 2013. I would give this 4.5 stars. I'm not sure why something keeps telling me to give it a half star smaller. I think because somehow the story seems familar from someplace. I'm not sure if I had heard something like it on the news or read a similar book or what. But, that being said, I really liked this book, it keep me really interested. The second half of the book better than the first half, but enjoyed it just the same.

This book is about a marriage of five

I love a good thriller once in awhile -- it's the only genre that will actually make me lose sleep. And lose sleep I did until finishing this very original, dynamic story about Nick (husband) suspected of killing his wife (Amy) on their 5-year anniversary. There are so many plot twists you're always trying to guess what will happen next. Gillian Flynn is even more of a genius than the "amazing" characters she has molded and unfolded for us (inside joke, which is also an inside joke). Tee hee.... ...more

I loved the twists and turns in this book. What a great ending. This author has made my must read list.

When his wife disappears on their anniversary, Nick is an obvious suspect. Will his wife be found?
