I quite enjoyed this story, which was macabre for sure, but still I found myself smiling throughout. The girls have buried their dead abusive parents in the garden, and no, that is not funny, yet all the events going on around them and their quick thinking had me turning the pages one after the other to see what else could possibly happen. I was pleasantly surprised by this novel. The description did not interest me, but a GR group was reading it, so I joined in. I loved this author's use of three different voices to tell this story. The plot moves quickly and the characters are complex and engaging. The only negative thing I can say about the book is that Marnie (age 15) seems a bit too insightful for her age. Overall, very good, and I look forward to more from this author. ...more

Some characters are written in a humorous way, which I'm sure is why it seemed so silly to me. Super-easy, quick read. ...more
