3.5 stars to the book.

I know that people adore this book. Maybe how hyped it was made it hard to match expectations.

This is a beautiful and tragic story told in a very sweeping scale. My issue is that it did not need to be quite as long as it was. I felt like it dragged in parts, particularly the past. The past needed to be visited to experience her getting used to surviving but some of it was repetitive and unnecessary. If a book

It took me a little while to settle into this, mainly I suspect because I was terrified I'd find it 'meh' after all the hype. And I wished any name bar 'Adeline' (which reminded me too much of a movie with minor parallels) had been chosen. But then... oh, wow. So good. So, so good.
