A bit sex heavy for a novella (for my taste anyway). But I liked both MCs - and how they were both in their 40s - I liked how they connect and I liked the nitty gritty (though short) about building a dude ranch.

Kaje Harper does older (as in not 20s) protagonists well, and this novella is no exception. It starts with a hookup between a cowboy, Joe, and a relatively wealthy citified man, Sylvester, who is returning to the ranch that his bigoted grandfather owned. Sylvester has plans to turn the ranch into dude ranch and with his hotel expertise and Joe's ranching knowledge, the hookup turns out to be more than sex. As with all of Kaje's writing, this one didn't disappoint. It's also wonderful that a bunch of authors are donating the proceeds of their stories to Ukraine.

What a lovely long novella! I've rarely read anything this length with such well-drawn, fully developed characters. These two feel like real people. The relationship building is equally well done. Honestly my only quibble is that I want it to be a full length novel, with maybe a sequel!
