This is an intriguing, contemporary novel, by turns amusing and tragic, which deals with a broad range of issues - animal rights, sibling rivalry and loyalty, the way parents influence their children for better or worse, guilt, and compassion. This makes it an ideal Book Group choice as there are so many themes to discuss.
