Quite an achievement--fantasy that rings true, because the author did not lose his memory of childhood and the power of imagination. Beautiful story about what's lost when we grow up.
Also important to note the author's lens in 1911, so there's a definite paternalistic tone and a subtext about Native Americans that is racist. If reading to or with a child, I'd want to address these elements. ...more

From the beginning, Peter Pan drove me crazy. What a spicy little rascal! As I continued reading, I realized how alone and sad Peter really was. In the end, I think the moral of the story is showing us what would happen if we stayed young forever. It also shows us how much good mothers do, and what might happen if a little boy never had a mother.

Somehow I never got around to reading the unabridged versions of so many of my childhood favorites. I picked up this edition because I wanted to watch the 2011 two-part miniseries, Neverland. But I'm hoping I get around to reading this one first.

52 12/29/13 Similar to what I expected, lots of fun but...sometimes rather strange. Makes me wonder about the author. The focus on mother's and the heartlessness of children who take them for granted was interesting.
