I enjoyed this book so much that I could read it again. Beautifully written with enough romance to make your heart flutter (without all the sexual details) and contained an interesting piece of history that I felt I actually learned something. The story is set in Scotland near Slains Castle/Cruden Bay where Carrie arrives to work on her new novel. I found the Winter Sea utterly captivating. Susanna Kearsley weaves a fine tale. I am eager to pick up the sequel, The Firebird and complete the saga.

I really loved this book. It wasn't a work of literary genius, but I loved the way it was told and the wonderful characters. I gave it only 4 stars just because it was a bit predictable at times, but I will definitely read it again. I can't wait to get my hands on more of this author's books.
