Loved this book!
1.? out of 5 stars. Maybe I just expected too much because I'd heard this is such a wonderful book but I found it more depressing and didn't especially care for any of the main characters. Some of her descriptions of life back then were interesting but overall the message I got from it was "life stinks and then you die, so it's okay to lie, cheat and steal to get ahead." Reading All-of-a-Kind Family by Sydney Taylor to my daughter when she was young was a much more enjoyable experience.

loved this book. it took a bit for me to get into, but once i did, it was fantastic. strong characters, especially the female characters. very well written. and very interesting to see what still transcends to current time from 100 years ago.
I bought this book because it was large and I enjoy a large book. It turns out it was a great idea to buy. I loved this book very much. I flew right through the book--it was very easy to read.
I read this in school, and reread it a few times. As always the first time was the best.
I recommend this one.
