I've never read anything Lindy wrote (at least that I know of) on Jezebel or online anywhere. This sucks to admit, but part of me didn't really get excited about reading this book because I'm not a loud woman; I'm not a big woman, so I wasn't sure how much I'd relate to. But I'm a woman, and unfortunately (and sadly) the topics are universal across women, big/small, loud/quiet.

I loved this one so much. Lindy West is my new spirit guide, and I want her to move in with my family and tell us all stories about her period around the dinner table. Based on the title I thought this might be a bit 'screamy', but in fact it was smart, hilarious, intelligently presented and basically perfect. Highly recommend. Especially if you are a bit in the dark about feminism, misogyny and whatnot and need to be schooled. In a funny way. But seriously, please read, all of my male family. ...more

Lindy West is a writer, who concentrates on feminist issues infused with politics, all told with humor and wit. Her chapters on fitting in as a fat person especially touched me. She is both clever and smart, making this book a joy to read.
