So, umm, reverse spoilers, kind of. . . I thought I had read somewhere that all of the characters in this book were alters of the same person? And that the island wasn't real; the person hosting these alters was in an asylum and slowly doing away with their other personalities? (There is a movie kind of like this; I somehow got the idea that this book inspired the movie.)
