Hawking and his co-writer, Leonard Mlodinow, present a culmination of Hawking's famous search for a unifying theory of physics. Here they claim such a theory exists, they call "M-theory"; a theory that they claim finally brings quantum mechanics together with Einstein's general relativity theory concerning gravity. The book opens claiming the "philosophy is dead" (a claim with some hoopla and a long past). The general concept of their M-theory is that the universe cannot be explained with a sing
