I saw the first season of the show before picking up the book, and the entire time I was reading the book I felt like I was watching the show save for a few small infractions. The same similarity however made the book sometimes feel like it was dragging. I think had I read the book first I would have given it five stars.

Wow it took me so long to read this book, but of course I loved every bit of it! I’ve watched the TV show in its entirety at least 2 times maybe 3, but this was my first time reading the book. Of course, I basically knew what would happen, but I got more information about the history from the book. I also enjoyed just seeing how everything played out in word form, it’s just something magical about that to me. The switch in ages of the characters (especially the children) was a bit jarring becaus

Game of Thrones is a complex story about many different characters struggling to live their life and do what they feel is right. Many are feuding with each other. Many are just struggling to discover the truth and stay out of trouble as best as they can. Some are even heavily invested in the game of thrones that they seem to always play.

A group of my friends is reading this series together, so I figured it was high time I read it, too. I've seen spoilers on tumblr, of course, but not enough to really know the story, and not enough to recognize most of the actors in the book characters.

Wonderful wonderful! Granted, I was seeing the characters in most cases in my mind as they were on the TV show but some were a blend of book description and actors portraying them. This book was amazing and I only wish I could have dropped everything and done nothing but listened to the book. Time to see if library has book 2 in audio and get my name on the wait list for it.

I don't know why I gave this book 4 stars the first time I read it, it's SO good. Maybe it's 4 1/2. In that case this 5 evens that out that previous 4.
