I understood more after reading Ann Radcliffe. I see I will have to read Twayne's book more so I better understand Radcliffe's novel. I thought it was potboiler. I was so wrong. Gothic writing contains various elements, such as

The Supernatural
Sentiment and Sensibility
The Sublime
The Picturesque

The idea of Sentiment and Sensibility engages me, so I will focus on that as much as possible.
