Another interesting Cadfael story, and one which has the novelty of being completely new to me as it was never adapted for television. There were some interesting details about marriage customs, however I feel that some of the characters and scenarios in this series became a little repetitive after The Leper of St Giles (book 5).

I've been thrilled to discover a few Cadfael stories I seem to have missed. What a luxury to be able to bury my nose in a 'new' one. There really is only one Ellis Peters. *happy sigh* Finished this, now on to the next. No interruptions, folks, I'm reading.

One of the better Cadfael books. Not just 1, but 2 murders... with a handful of viable suspects. The Empress vs the King and a noble's inheritance all play into the plot. A hermit and a forester. And Hugh and Brother Cadfael. Solid 4 stars.
