The audio book version of The Longest Trip Home: A Memoir is read by the author, which I think adds a sense of authenticity and an almost intimacy with the author because you can actually hear the story in his own words.

This is a coming of age autobiography, spanning the authors entire life to date, but focusing primarily on his youth and the final chapter in his father's life. This is a great story, well-written and a quick read. A bit of a tear-jerker too, at the end, as with his previous story, "Marley and Me." I really enjoyed this story.

The moving momento to a long-past childhood is a feel -good story. John grew up in a devout Catholic family in Michigan during the 60's and 70's. Although he later moved away from his family physically and spiritually, the wit that made Marley and Me such a big hit is evident in this story. Some joyful and tearful moments await you.
