A boy, a true reader and bibliophile, finds a mysterious and compelling book. He is so taken by the story that he sets out to find the author, a man presumed dead. Strange things begin happening. A mystery and a love story - conventional love, the love of books. I really enjoyed it.

What an amazing book. I don't know that I describe it as a mystery, but there is number of subplots that you spend the book trying to figure out exactly how they fit together and understanding who's who.

It's a fantastic story and beautifully written.

I love this book. I first learned about it a couple of years ago when it was recommended as a summer read on NPR. It is fabulous. Once I picked it up, I could not put it down. It is a myserty wrapped up in romance and it is about book lovers. Nothing could be better!

I have heard nothing but fabulous things about this book, but I couldn't get into it. I had three hours of driving ahead of me, and I had no desire to keep listening. ...more

Raina, my sister in law recommended this book to me. I have to say, once I started, it was hard to put down, and I read it with in two very busy weeks of my life.

I'll have to say that some of the scenes were a bit R rated. Not so much in a sexy romantic way, but more of a walked in on your parents kind of uncomfortable. So, don't get started if you aren't ready for that. Still, it was an interesting read, and I complex plot. I started writing dates down in the back cover at one point because I

I loved this book. It's a literary mystery in Spain after WWII featuring a young boy who finds a long-lost book by a mysterious author. He begins a quest to find out more about the book and the author.

Aside from being a very absorbing and haunting story, it is just beautifully written and really captures what it means to love books. It's one of the best books I've read in a while.

One of the best books I have ever read. I have recommended this book to so many people. It has been eleven years since I’ve read this book but it still has left such a tremendous impression on me.

Did I enjoy this book? I did? Did I think it was great? Not really? In some ways I did feel it was rather predictable, and wondered at some of the loose ends.

If a book is lost and no one else has ever read it, did it ever exist? A great adventure and an interesting story about books and the people who value them.
