This was the first book of his that I read and I'm a total fan now! Carl Hiassen is a Florida reporter and isn't afraid to speak up on his opinions on politics the environment and people who are generally $%^&*. He's hysterical, and most of the time I agree with, which is why I love his books! ...more

Fun but forgettable. I like stories where the main character is a writer. And I like mysteries. I sacrificed any depth of mystery in order to enjoy a group of friends change their lives through a transformative experience: namely, the death of a washed up rocker.

I really enjoyed this book...it was a good insight into the newspaper business, included an interesting mystery and wasn't knee deep in environmental preachiness like some of his other books. It was a refreshing homage to eighties big hair rock bands. ...more
