This book started off a bit slow, but it was a fast read once I got into it. It's entertaining, though perhaps a bit predictable. I really enjoyed the Scottish dialect and the descriptions of the Scottish Highlands.
This is the first book I've read in the Hamish Macbeth series by M.C. Beaton and I enjoyed it. I will certainly look for more of the books in this series at my local library. ...more

A quick cozy mystery. I like Hamish but I do wish a few more clues were shared so that the reader might try and guess who it is. Hamish is like Sherlock Holmes in that he sees and understands things that the reader is not privy to so you just have to take his word for it that he's found the damning clue. I will probably read more of this series.

2.5. Pretty good until the ending.
Antony Ferguson does a good job narrating.
