I started this, thinking it would be hilarious like Bossypants, but this book is more of a memoir than a bunch of comedic sketches. I very much enjoyed the frankness and honesty of Amy. She exposes the real Amy and shows us she's just as normal or crazy as the rest of us. The book was a bit disorganized in how it was told (a lot of time jumps, doesn't go chronologically), especially toward the end, but it was good to get the human aspects of her life. Reading 'Yes Please' so close to Amanda Palmer's 'The Art of Asking', they both name check the same musician and both have similar overtones to the book, but while I left 'The Art of Asking' with a deeper understanding of Amanda Palmer, 'Yes Please' left me with just as blank a slate that I'd come in with.

I was a little disappointed with this one, probably because I was expecting it to be more funny and less self-helpy. And I don't find reading about people taking drugs to be all that entertaining (maybe it's just me but I felt like this came up a lot!).
Bossypants is still the gold standard, as is Tina Fey in general! :) ...more

It was entertaining but not entirely cohesive. If you haven't read Tina Fey and Kathy Griffin's books, I strongly recommend those, but your time won't be wasted reading this one.
