This book was selected for the December 2014 discussion at my local library book club. The book is a wonderful resource for a momentous and life-changing event in world history - the development of the atomic bomb.

A compelling account of one part of the building of the atom bomb. I learned quite a lot by reading this book. I had not realized that not all the work was in Los Alamos New Mexico. This story focuses on Oak Ridge Tennessee. With its' segregration rules, it made things a bit difficult. I had also not realized that people were administered plutonium to track its affects, without their knowledge. But humanizing the people who worked here was the biggest impression.
