This was funny, I'll give it that. But it just kinda made me miss Neal Stephenson, I guess?

Great sci-fi
Thrilling even when read after seeing the movie. Reminds me of Ben Bova's MARS and the movie Apollo 13. Note to self: if ever in a survival situation, keep your sense of humor intact. ...more

Spellbinding and hilarious audiobook with a protagonist I completely fell in love with. I would recommend it to fans of Ready Player One or readers who love a strong, funny voice.
Everyone assumes Mark Watney died during the dust storm on Mars that forced the rest of the Aries 3 crew to leave him there. But he didn't. He's stranded on Mars. Communication with NASA in Houston is impossible. The Aries 4 crew won't land on Mars for another 4 years, and he only has enough food for 400 days. This book ...more

Holy crap! If you are as behind the times as I was and haven't read The Martian yet, get off FB right now and find a copy. Wow! I read about a hundred pages last night and then dreamed about getting Mark off of Mars. Finished it this afternoon. It has been a while since a book has gripped me so much.

I'm not a huge sci-fi fan, especially sci-fi set in outer space. But I really enjoyed this book. It had enough humor/personality to get me through some of the more tedious "science-y" bits. I have high hopes for the movie.

Really well done, could not put it down. You're pulled in and the protagonist keeps you. The science is well-explained and interesting and interesting to learn and be challenged by. Hope the movie doesn't mess it up.

Couldn't help myself, saw the trailer and had to read it again :D.
Still love it, no idea how his inner monologue will translate to the big screen but looking forward to it anyway! ...more

FUN. FUN FUN FUN.

Does it seem like books are lately written with the intention of becoming screenplays? Or just my imagination? This one is so well put together and tidy.
