I really enjoyed this book once I got into it. It was a little slow initially, but I think that was because the author put so much detail and information into the story. This is the first fiction book I have read in a long time with footnotes. I don't really think this book is intended for children so much as young adults because there are some rather dark themes running through the story and a lot more death and destruction than there normally is in a children's book. Hilarious new take on the magician world!
Boy shit got really hectic at the end there. Quite stressful.
It was absolutely fascinating! I loved Bartimaeous the Djinni so much and also his 1st person narrative! I can't wait for Eid to get over so the bookshops open up and I can buy the remaining two parts!!!!

I read this a while back and really enjoyed it. I was trying to remember who I borrowed it from so if it was you would you kindly remind me?
I loved Bartimaeus, but I found the book a bit difficult since none of the characters, particularly Nathaniel, were very likable.
A really good book, and the footnotes were amazing.
