This is a very emotionally wrought tale about a family with twists and turns, ups and downs (big time), written from different perspectives (reminds me of a not-so-controversial Jodi Picoult story.) It took me a long time to read it, but I was reading other things at the same time. I think it started to drag a bit for me in the middle, too, but overall I enjoyed it. Not my favorite of Noble's books but still a worthy read. She has a way of making characters you love, my complaint with this one was the big shiny bow was a little too much at the end. ...more

A good idea, but not executed in the way it was presented. I expected the whole book to be letters from the mother to her daughters, so that she could be with them after he death. The letters played a very small part and the characters were just ok.

I liked the story line of this book. However, I did feel the author was reaching with the letters bit. It seemed like that was a big part of the story but the story in itself was rich enough. A good read.
