Dragon Slippers starts with a young girl, age undetermined, who is being sent to a dragon's lair as bait, so that her family can use her "capture" to bolster their sagging fortunes. She talks her way out, accepting a pair of shoes as part of the bargain, and makes her way to the King's city to try to become a shopkeeper.

This is a dramatic and entertaining tale set in medieval times. The story features an independent, smart, and brave young woman who doesn't need to be saved by her prince (although sometimes by her dragon). The story is very engaging and my oldest daughter and I really enjoyed reading it. It's the first story in the Dragon Slippers trilogy and we are looking forward to reading the other two books.

This was a fun book to read with my daughter and very appropriate for pre to early teens. I plan on reading the rest of the series, and I liked it enough I think I will put it on my list to buy.

After Sesika's note that this was a BYU graduate, well, it just has to be read!
