"You deserve no mercy."

Wow, Marissa Meyer has done it again.
Heartless is a fantastic villain origin story where a sweet young woman has everything she ever wanted ripped from her. She experiences first hand that no matter how good you are, life will never be fair.
Catherine wants only to bake but she is a woman and such practices are only for men. She confides in her maid, Mary Anne, who also wants to partake in this impossible dream. But when she meets Jest, the court Joker, she begins to believ ...more

Wow.
I'm a bit incoherent right now after finishing this, so excuse the brevity of this review.
Okay, seriously, this book was amazing. It definitely reminded me of Fairest (which I loved), and I just....wow. I really have no words.
The only thing I didn't really appreciate is that I think the King's character was pretty flat. He could have been a really interesting character, but he just never got there. I did end up feeling sorry for him a lot, though.

And it did.
