I’m so conflicted about this book because I know for a fact that the first hundred pages were SO BORING I had to force myself to keep reading and after that it sorta picked up and I was able to appreciate what made this book so distinctive on one hand a story about a lawyer defending a black man in that time period is truly exceptional and the way this particular case unfolded was a roller coaster of emotions and on the other hand the ambiance of growing up in a tight community was really enthra ...more

I have been meaning to read this book for years, and I am so glad I finally did. It is such a great book, and Harper Lee is a phenomenal writer. It also actually really helped me get a better picture of what life was like for people in small southern towns during the 30's. I really don't know what else to say other than this is a must read classic. ...more
