I was introduced to Khaled Hosseini’s work when a former professor/mentor gave me a paperback copy of The Kite Runner. I can’t recall whether it was a birthday or graduation gift, but I knew he was a gifted storyteller, and I immediately read his follow-up, A Thousand Splendid Suns, in hardcover.

I saw the hardcover of And the Mountains Echoed on sale at Costco, and I couldn’t resist. However, it has taken me years to read it.
