This is one of those books I've been meaning to read forever. I think I heard of it for the first time when I was an undergrad, and it has been recommended to me many times. So glad I finally read it! Though I struggled a bit with reading the dialogue written in dialect at first, I was quickly drawn in by the lyric language and passionate emotions of the story. This novel takes place in the past. The main character, Janie, comes home after many years have passed and tells her friend about everything that has happened to her since she left. As I began reading, I must admit I wasn't pulled into the story right away. Once I reached the part where Janie begins talking about her first marriage, I then became interested and wanted to continue reading.
