NK Jemisin has been on my "authors to try" list for quite a while, having been suggested to me by many a sci-fi/fantasy loving woman.
The voice had me from the get-go, as did the pathos of the first tragedy (warning: this is a book with many a tragic element). But the narration was magnetic. Without even knowing who I was listening to, I wanted to know what this character would have to say.

I really enjoyed this! N.K. Jemisin always builds amazing worlds and this is no different. I love the twists and turns. This is the work of a master craftswoman!
Beautiful writing, the plot was masterfully woven together. It is a very rare thing for me to go beyond the first novel in a series, but I read this on my kindle and almost went straight to purchase book #2 when I was done. Then I remembered that we have a budget and a library. :)
I still may go ahead and purchase myself just for the sheer joy of throwing more money at a fabulous writer. It will just have to wait until after the holidays.
