Reading this book is like stepping into a dream. I loved every single word of it. With magic, mystery, atmosphere, a large cast of intriguing characters, and a touch of romance, it pushed all my buttons. The pace is meandering while still continually moving the story forward and revealing bits of the mystery surrounding the challenge along the way.

Wow. I need more stars to give to this book--five just isn't cutting it. Everything about this book glimmers with awesome. Every time I opened The Night Circus (and I read the sumptuous hardcover version, which I must say added immensely to the experience), I traveled to another world entirely. I had no choice but to fall in love with the Cirque des Reves and become a Reveur (dreamer) myself as I read. Morgenstern's descriptions are heavenly, her belief in magic refreshing, and her ability to te

The world of The Night Circus is fascinating and lovingly described. The imagery is amazing, gorgeous, and complex. I truly wished I could visit the exhibitions described. The larger world of the novel is vague on details (how magic works, what exactly these magicians hope to accomplish), but I didn't mind that so much as it added to the air of mystery. It fit, since our main characters also did not really understand the nature of the challenge they had been dropped into either. For pure atmosph

The best thing about this book is the romance. It sparkles and shimmers and made me smile each time, whether the couple were physically together in the same scene or not. Ms. Morgenstern makes you feel the two are together always, whether they realize it or not. That's a wonderful gift for a romance writer and I hope to see more from her in the future.
The circus itself is a close second. It's obvious Ms. Morgenstern thought it through down to the least details (or at least makes it appear so). T ...more

This was such a fantastic magical book from beginning to end. It was so well orchestrated, with all it's many twists and turns. Although there are many jumps from future to past, the writing is so well put together, the time differences just add to the adventure. This book is a perfect combination of magic, romance, fairy tale, and mystery, that leaves no end to imagination!

This is a potentially fascinating novel based around a truly magical circus. There is real magic involved, not just smoke and mirrors. The Night Circus appears without warning outside various cities and towns, runs through the night and at no other time, and is entirely in black and white. It sounds intriguing.
In Erin Morgenstern’s book we get to see the circus, see how it came about, and see the lives of some of those involved in designing it, performing in it, and visiting it. But through it a ...more

Beautifully written story. The book jacket description may be slightly misleading, implying this is simply Celia and Marco's love story and that is not the case. The circus is the main character encompassing so many lives. While Marco and Celia are indeed main components, they do not have MUCH interaction directly with each other until @ 275 pages into the tale. This is the most original story I have enjoyed in some time and I look forward to Morgensterns next creation.

An incredible debut novel. Imaganitive and intriguing, the author's voice draws you in and captivates exactly like the circus it describes. One of my new favorites. I wish I could read it again for the first time.
